Fire Took My Home
Donation protected
The lifelong residence of Mildred Johnson and Owen Duncan was destroyed by fire on May 27, 2018 . A third resident, their 19-year-old nephew, was visiting a friend nearby when he heard that smoke was pouring out of the house. He ran into the house and saved their dog, an 8-year-old white German shepherd named Kato.
Firefighters battling heavy smoke put the fire out in about half an hour, but the house was so severely damaged that it cannot be reoccupied. Property was later stolen from the damaged home,
Ms. Johnson and Mr. Duncan have nearly exhausted their savings living in a motel. They need to raise funds immediately to pay for a place to live, and to replace basic necessities (e.g., clothing).
