Hi my name is Danica Richardson. I was diagnosed with lupus at the age of 33 and as a result my kidneys went into failure. I was on dialysis for five years before receiving my transplant in August of 2020. Since then, we’ve been continuing to make efforts to get my body balanced; it’s been challenging as I developed a case of cryptococcal meningitis from the kidney transplant, which was diagnosed in 2021. Treatment for this is at least a year and in addition we have been unsuccessful keeping my blood levels balanced. I am scheduled to see a blood specialist in April to hopefully get the proper line of treatment.  I have not been able to work because of my medical inconsistencies and currently I am still getting labs & treatments weekly/bi-weekly from the kidney clinic. At this phase of transplant, a normal recipient would only have to follow up every six months.

Medical bills are piling up and I can no longer afford the cost of anti rejection medications; which have to be taken twice daily to keep the kidney functioning.  I will have to take this medication for the rest of my life otherwise the transplant will fail. In addition, with the other medications, ongoing labs/testing and continued referrals to other specialists, my family and I have exhausted resources to continue  paying  for this. We’re seven years into this battle and I’ve never done something like this before. I would be extremely grateful for any help, by way of money or prayer that I can receive.
