UPDATE: Lily has been admitted to the hospital due to fatty liver disease. This has been caused by her thyroid medication. I’m praying she recovers rapidly.
As many of you know, I’ve had Lily for 11 amazing years. I got her shortly after a traumatic time in my life where I needed a companion to remind me life is worth living. With that, my baby girl Lily became my whole world.
Anyone who knows and loves Lily, knows she is an extremely personable, loving and outgoing cat. She is never afraid to light up the room and be the center of attention!
Unfortunately during our annual check up this past March, we did routine blood work and with that we found out Lily now has hyperthyroidism. With this, she is due to be on medication for the rest of her life so she can continue to live a long and happy life. Although while taking the medication, something went south and it’s made her extremely sick where she’s had to go in as an out patient for fluids, medication, bloodwork and X-rays. All of this has come as a huge stress on my life with my current family situation in Lebanon.
After speaking with the vet, I’ve come to the conclusion the best result for her is Iodine Treatment. This is a lot like chemotherapy when reducing the size of a tumor to ultimately remove it. This is around the same process only for the thyroid gland. If she gets this treatment, she will never have to take medication for her hyperthyroidism ever again.
Although, unfortunately with this treatment, is a massive financial decision which is why many people result to medication or diets. Unfortunately after seeing how much my cats health has declined within the past week, I never want to put her through medication again but also want her to live a long and happy life.
Although I have pet insurance, this is not something that will be fully covered. I did my research way before deciding to make this GoFundMe. All proceeds will go strictly to any vet visits, blood work, ultrasounds, X-rays and the therapy for Lily.
thank you to everyone who loves Lily as much as i do. Watching her decline has been one of the hardest things Im currently handling.
