Help to bring a family back together!

Hello, my name is Mohammad Abdullah. I am originally from Darfur in Sudan but I came to the UK when I was 15 years old and I have been living here for 4 years.

I got my refugee status in 2020. This made me really excited because it meant that I was now given the right to make a family reunion application to apply for my mother, one sister and my two brothers who I had to leave in Sudan and have not seen since 2018, to reunite with me in the UK.

You can see a picture of them above!

I started my family reunification application last year just before the war in Sudan broke out in April 2023. I found a probono solicitor to support me with the application. We managed to get every member of my family a passport and everyone was TB and DNA tested which is a necessary part of the application.

We were on the last stage of the process of getting biometrics (finger printing) in order for the application to be submitted, when the war devestated the entire country and all of the biometrics centers closed. Which they still are to this day!

My solicitors tried to explain our situation to the Home Office and requested for the biometrics to be deffered. However, we didn't recieve a response from them. Unfortunately because we could not submit the biometrics in time, the deadlines passed for those original applications! This was extremely stressful news after all the work that we had done. I was also extremely scared for my family because Sudan became a very unsafe place to be.

Luckily, I have an extremely supportive solicitor who has not given up on my case. We are now working on new applications and have found that the best option is for my family to leave Sudan and travel to Uganda where the biometric centres are open and is the safest and closest country to where my family is located.

As I am a full-time student, I am unable to afford the amount of money needed to support their travel to Uganda.

The money I hope to raise will cover their travel costs, travel and living expenses and a place to stay in Kampala while they are waiting for the biometrics to process, new TB testing and the Home Office decision from the family reunion application.

Since being so far apart from my family from such a young age, there has been a big part of me that is missing. I have had an emptiness in my heart since being apart from them. I have constantly worried about their safety, but even more now since the war, which is getting worse. I hear stories about killing, kidnapping and sexual assault. Every day I am afraid that I will recieve a call with terrible news.
I'm in a constant state of worry. This has started to effect my concentration at college and my ability to sleep at night.

I have gone through so many years without my family and we have always been very close. Having them with me in the UK would mean that we would be a family unit again. It would give me so much joy and comfort to have my siblings by my side and get to have one of my mothers warm hugs again!

It would really mean a lot to me and my family if you could donate any amount of money, small or large. Please share this page around to anyone you think might be interested in donating.

Please keep my family in your thoughts and thank you so much for reading!
