This morning my wife received the most devastating news that her beloved big brother Chucky, as she and most referred to him as, had been killed in a motorcycle accident while driving to work to San Diego from Mexico. Chucky’s motorcycle was clipped from behind by a truck and the driver fled the scene. Words can’t explain the pain I feel for my wife and my 3 daughters who loved their uncle dearly. This is the second brother my wife has lost in less than a year. My brother in law was as fearless and crazy as they came. I admired him deeply for his care free spirit and loving life to the the fullest personality. Thankfully we got to visit him one time in Mexico where he said “Benny do you just do everything my sister says? Yes I do.” Almira often refers to that moment because of how funny it was and because it described the relationship dynamic between the 3 of us. Chucky loved his drums, his motorcycle, driving the different large boats in the bay and San Diego, walking the beach in Rosarito, and his wife of only a few years. My wife and her parents leave tonight to Mexico where they will lay Chucky to rest there in respects to his wife. Chucky’s work in San Diego, myself, my family, and some of my wife’s family have already begun doing what we can to help out so that Chucky’s wife, my wife, and her parents can focus on their mourning and laying Chucky to rest without worrying about the stresses of money. But I would be lying if I said that a little extra help wouldn’t go a long ways. I just want to lessen the burden for my wife and her family as much as possible during this tragic time.
