In memory of my amazing dad
On the 28th of June it will have been 8 years since I lost my dad. Even typing this it seems unbelievable that I have lived so much of my life without him. My dad had a very short illness and we lost him after just 6 weeks of being admitted to hospital.
However, I don't want to dwell on his last few weeks, rather I would like to highlight the amazing work he did for charity. In his evenings and weekends my dad gave his time to volunteering for the Samaritans branch in Newbridge. From spending nights on the phone lines, to helping train other team members and being part of the festival team, his dedication to their mission was unwavering. This incredible organisation provides a 24/7 helpline, with their mission being that fewer people die from suicide. This is the charity I will be running the Sydney 2025 Marathon for on the 31st of August in memory of him and his dedication to the Samaritans.
