Hi, my name is Keira, and I’m reaching out for your help.
I’ve been living in constant, chronic pain since October 3rd, and nothing has brought relief. I’ve been to A&E four times this month alone, each visit ending the same way: long nights of waiting, unbearable pain, and still no answers.
After 27 years of severe pain since my teens and countless tests, doctors now strongly suspect endometriosis. Unfortunately, the waiting list for surgery in Ireland is heartbreakingly long, and I simply can’t keep living like this. I’ve managed losing a few days every month to pain, but now I’m losing every day of my life to it.
And if you’ve ever wondered why I’m such a sleepy person, well, this is why. Living with pain and fatigue takes everything out of you.
I’ve been given a rare opportunity to have specialist surgery with Dr. Dinos in Athens on November 19th. He is one of Europe’s leading endometriosis surgeons, and the procedure falls under the EU Cross-Border Directive, meaning the HSE will reimburse part of the cost, but not all.
The base cost of surgery is €7,500, which we are trying to scrape together, but if the disease has spread to my bowel or other organs, the price will rise significantly due to the complexity of the procedure.
I also need to cover flights, accommodation, food, and transport while recovering abroad. I’ve been unable to work as a freelance Irish Sign Language interpreter, and my wife will take time off to travel with me, leaving our income limited during this critical time.
I’ve spent my life working in service to others, and it’s incredibly hard for me to ask for help. But right now, I truly need it.
Please consider donating. Every bit of support brings me closer to the care that could finally end years of pain and give me my life back.
Thank you so much
