Stanley's Recovery

Hi,

My name is Joyce Peach. My daughter Heather and her dog Stanley were viciously attacked by two large pit bull mix dogs on Campbell and 19th street in Phoenix last Monday 9/26 at 8:30 am. They were on a routine morning walk when all of a sudden they were literally ambushed.

After an intense struggle to get Stanley freed from the locked jaws of one of the dogs, not only was Heather injured but Stanley's paw was severely crushed.

We've been so hopeful that Stanley's leg would heal but after treatment every day since the attack, the flesh from the large wound is not able to be saved and she has had to make the difficult decision to amputate his front leg.

The owner of the 2 dogs fled the scene and she was not able to get her information to press charges.

As you can imagine, this is a very expensive surgery including the aftercare for Stanley. It's also an unexpected expense not many are prepared for.

She and her daughter love Stanley so much and are completely devastated, not to mention traumatized, but the vet feels this is the way to go to avoid other complications like sepsis.

He is a soft coat Wheaton Terrier and she wants to give him the best care possible but needs financial assistance.

The police are involved and we are still actively searching for the owner of the 2 dogs. She's a short stocky female living in or near the area likely in her 40s.
