Hi, I'm Alyssa, and I truly appreciate you taking the time to read my story.

I recently went in for a routine procedure for a dilation. I have Subglottic Stenosis, where the disease I have creates scar tissue inside my airway, making it hard to breathe and making my airway very narrow. But the procedure went wrong, and my doctor had to do an emergency tracheostomy. He placed a tracheostomy tube in my throat. Mind you, I've never had this done before.

Since this all happened, I haven't been able to speak. I haven't spoken for five months, which has been really hard and life-changing, plus my emotions have been all over the place. So, I'm raising money for some medical things I need that will make living a bit more comfortable, like a humidifier that can go over my trach. I have a lot of secretions that come up, and a medical humidifier and the supplies that come with it will help keep them loose. Without it, I have a hard time trying to keep the secretions loose, to where they become hard, and I feel like I'm choking to where I can't breathe. And also, an adjustable bed to sleep upright because of the secretions. The more I move my body, like walking, going upstairs, etc., the more I will have to suction the secretions out.

My whole life has changed. Doing basic things in life like putting on clothes, showering, walking, sleeping... basic things we do in life have become difficult to do. I know I have a long road ahead of me, and with your help, it can make life a little easier. Any donation is appreciated.
