Breaking the World's Longest Single-Event Triathlon Record

THE CHALLENGE

My name is Taeke Mulder, I am a 20-year-old student and athlete. On august 30 and 31st 2025, I'm attempting to break the world record for the longest single-event triathlon:

- 13,25km swim

- 415km cycle

- 103km run

- Without sleep or extended breaks

THE PURPOSE

But this challenge goes beyond just an athletic achievement. This project is about something much bigger than myself.

We live in a world where the path is often predetermined: school, college, work, retirement. But is that really what makes you happy? I believe everyone needs to find what truly drives them, what makes them jump out of bed in the morning, what gives their life meaning.

THE CHARITY

I've always had the freedom to choose my own path. My parents provided a stable and loving home, where I never had to worry about safety, money, or where my next meal would come from. That foundation gave me the space to think about what I wanted to do, about what made me happy.

I'm very aware that this isn't something to take for granted. There are children in the Netherlands who never had the freedom to think about what they want to do. Children who grow up in an environment full of stress, poverty, and instability.

That's why I want this project to give back a piece of that freedom and choice to children who don't have it. So they too can have the space to dream, to discover their passion, and to build a future where they don't just survive, but truly live.

And that's where Stichting Het Vergeten Kind comes in. They support children growing up in unsafe or unstable home situations, providing them with a safe place, stability, and the chance to develop as every child deserves.

THE PLAN

To spread my message further, part of the raised funds will be used to create a high-quality documentary. This documentary isn't just about my world record attempt, but also about the lessons I learned along the way and the message I want to spread.

Transparency is my priority:

- After the project, I will publish a complete cost overview

- Every euro not directly used for documentary production, and all profits it generates, goes directly to Stichting Het Vergeten Kind

I want to raise €10,000 by sharing my story on social media every day for the months until and after my attempt.
