Story

Hello everyone. The picture posted are Courtenay's children that was taken 5 years ago after her daughter was born. These three children, now ages 14, 10 and 5 are days, maybe weeks away from losing a mother that they adore, love and can't imagine life without. I created this account because I know Courtenay, not of today but of our past. You see, I was a shy high school boy and she was my first ever girlfriend. We were a couple for 2 and half years and never had problems, just simply had a relationship that fizzled. While we were together, her and her parents gave me a lot my senior year, not only love, but a place to stay. 22 years later, we both have families, life is busy, but her life took a dramatic change for the worse. In June 2015, at age 39, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Carcinoma and it has already spread throughout her body. This is normally a cancer common for smokers, but she doesn't smoke. For the last 6 months, she has been through many radiation and chemotherapy treatments with no improvements. She has been in and out of hospice because the treatments completely wipe her out. If you have ever seen anyone go through this, it doesn't change. It's sad and emotionally draining on her, her kids, husband, family and friends. More info on the type of cancer- https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Small-cell_carcinoman I just visited with her yesterday and she wants everyone to continue praying and to continue to send positive energy her way. She's weak, tired but is not giving up. As we talked, she explained that she doesn't want anything because "others need it" and "what makes her special to receive anything from others." I explained that it was her turn and people understand and know what cancer can do to a family. With her accepting my gesture, she said she wants it to be more about her kids and husband. They have to deal with a sick mom and wife and cope with how to handle this. If you would like to help with Christmas this year and other future expenses that they will have and have the means to do so, please donate to Courtenay and her family. I know we can raise much more than requested and would love to see it much more than that. Thank you.
