WE NEED YOUR HELP!
For the Past 4 years Eric Eierdam has been involved and working his way to the top of his field in the sport of Para-Skeleton. Eric has recently been recognized as a USA National Team member and currently holds the #1 Ranking in the World. Eric's entire family have been there to Support him and help him achieve his goals of becoming a Paralympic Athlete in 2022.
Eric's life was turned upside down in 2002 when a tragic motorcycle accident left him fighting for his life and his limbs. Unfortunately, his right leg had no chance. It was completely severed from his body just above the knee and the femoral artery along with it. Blood loss was occurring at rate that typically kills someone in mere minutes.
Fortunately, God had placed someone there to help keep Eric alive! An off-Duty Police officer, who had just witnessed the collision with the 93 Bronco, immediately raced over to where Eric was and demanded the stunned driver who just hit Eric to remove his belt so that the officer could make a tourniquet to stop the bleeding as best he could until Emergency Medical and Flight for Life could arrive. Eric barely made it to the Hospital via helicopter as his body was beginning to shut down from massive blood loss. The doctors and staff at UMC in Las Vegas were quick to react and were able to save his life that day although going forward Eric would have to learn to get back to life and his passion for athletics without his right leg.
After massive weight gain, the death of several close family members, a bout with alcoholism, and almost losing the love of is life, Eric was able to turn his life around with the love and support of his wife and an introduction to the possibilities of becoming a world-class athlete. Eric's wife encouraged him to take an opportunity to travel to Canada to try ParaBobsled and during that trip was introduced also to the sport of Skeleton. It was a fit!
During the past 4 years Eric, his wife, and their three children have traveled to several countries to compete with global competition and represent the USA in World Cup Races for the growing sport of Para-Skeleton. The inaugural World Cup Season of 2014-2015 ended with Eric claiming the number one spot in the world after winning the final race of the season by a mere 0.01 seconds. The 2015-2016 Season has started out with a bang as well as a silver medal and two gold medals through the first 3 races of the season with Eric still holding on to his #1 spot on the World Ranking List.

It means that Eric and his family also have a shot at maintaining World Cup Point Qualifications, Traveling and Competing in the European World Cup Races, as well as being a positive example to other disabled individuals and athletes for what is capable and what can be achieved through belief, hard work, and a will not to give up.
