Hello everyone! My name is Sky, and I’m also known as Venus Rising. As most of you know, I am very much openly nonbinary and I have been out as such since I was 18. These past years, I have really grown into who I am as a person, and I am extremely grateful to all the people and community in my life for their help and support. With that in mind, I ask my community for their help with this most life changing decision of mine.

I recently had a consultation for double incision mastectomy, otherwise known as top surgery, as I feel like I am at a point in my life where I’m ready to finally take the leap of faith to be 100% myself. However, this decision was not one I came to terms with easy. I am currently unemployed in the “real” world, however I am lucky enough to be able to work as a drag entertainer full-time and be able to depend on that as my income to pay for rent, bills, etc. Because of this, I don’t have any insurance and as such am paying for the surgery fully out of pocket, and with all the expenses of surgery and aftercare, I’ll need to raise a bit extra for rent since I will be unable to work. I am looking to fundraise about $8k total for all these expenses. My friends and loved ones know that I am one to hate asking for help, and putting myself in a vulnerable position is tougher than I expected, however my want to be in a body that feels 100% like me is so much more overpowering and I am humbly asking for anyone’s help.
