Andy’s recovery
Hi all,
Andy is in need of our help! Last weekend he was admitted to Royal Perth Hospital with heart failure.
Andy had been unwell for a few weeks with what he thought were lingering effects from a cold virus that had gone through the family. Being self employed, he kept pushing through, thinking he had to start feeling better soon. Things started going downhill when he could no longer lay down to sleep, was very short of breath and had noticed he had severe swelling in his feet and lower legs, that had started traveling up his legs.
Heart failure was not something he’d considered, he new he was unwell, but did not realise how sick he actually was. By the time he was admitted to the Coronary Care Unit his heart was estimated to be only operating at 10-15%. Left longer, we hate to think of what the outcome could’ve been.
He is in the right hands now, but has a long, slow recovery ahead of him.
Right now, he needs to take the next 3 months off work. After that, it will be a very slow reintroduction to work. Obviously being self employed, Andy has no leave. If he doesn’t work, there is no money. He has already not been working full work days as he’s been so unwell. As we all know, the bills don’t stop.
We are hoping to relieve some stress off Andy by taking some of the financial pressure off. If you are in a position to help support him, no matter how small, it will be of great assistance. If you are not in the position to financially contribute, sharing this would be very helpful.
