Hello family and friends, we are raising funds to help lay our father to rest. As most of you know, he was everything to us and the original plan didn’t go as planned so we are reaching out to family and friends for help. We don’t come from a big immediate family & right now it’s just my sister and I who is planning and executing everything. In today’s day and age, that just isn’t enough. For as much love as our father has put into this world, it would be nice to send him off as he deserves. We thought we were prepared for this moment but who naturally is ? Our father was everything but a dull individual. He was a proud Puerto Rican man! He was charismatic, empathetic, joyful, understanding, friendly, a breath of fresh air to be around, and most importantly.. he had a big heart! He would give the shirt off his back for someone in need and would never complain about doing so. He was as selfless as they came and they literally don’t make ‘em like him anymore. He would uplift everyone’s spirits while dealing with his own depression. Such a happy go lucky guy, you could never tell when he was down and out. However, behind closed doors he’d try to hide his feelings from us but I could read right through his smiles. Let me provide some history … Born and raised in Lorain Ohio, he soon joined the army & the marines to follow, he was stationed on Oahu. There he met my older sister’s mother & had Shantel. He then met my mother and had Myself (Evelynn), and our younger sister, Regina. He had little to no friends and zero family on Oahu. My mother’s family soon became his family. Although it was supposed to be a happy time in life, he was going through depression and feeling lonely. He missed his family dearly yet made a promise to raise and protect us. Around the age of 56 is when he started showing signs of dementia. He always preached how losing his mind would be devastating for him. I know it was hard for him to cope with this new disability but you honestly couldn’t tell because he was still the happy go lucky dad we always knew. Around the age of 63 I could no longer live my day to day life worrying about his safety. I quickly moved him to California to live with me. Im so blessed my babies were able to help me take care of my father and build lasting memories with him. In 2022 he was diagnosed with liver cancer. From then on, life has been difficult for him mentally and physically. Leading up to the day he took his last breath, he did not complain about pain at all. I’m beyond blessed to have him as my first best friend because this man was filled with great humor, positive energy, and so much wisdom. Dementia and liver cancer may have deteriorated him but we would never let that define him! I would constantly remind him about his old self and memories we’ve shared along my life span. I am now 31 years old and wouldn't be half the person I am today without his influence. I love hearing stories of him because you all help keep his memory alive. Since he has passed, I’ve been sharing stories of him daily on my instagram and Facebook. At first I was overwhelmed with dm’s and messages of condolences wondering what we have done to receive so much love support from you all. Then it clicked, good karma is real and the genuine energy we put out somehow comes back full circle. The best messages were those saying that they enjoyed my videos of my father. They watched our journey from before I brought him home with us till now. You all continue to lift us in spirit and coming from a small family, it means the world to us! Your comfort and support makes us feel as though we have so much extended family and we’re blessed to call you all friends and family. In remembrance of “Steady Eddie, Always Ready,” anything would help us close this final chapter in his book of life please do not think you have to donate a big sum of money. We are thankful and grateful you even felt it within your soul to reach out with kind words. To those who has been impacted by our father’s life, just know he loved each and every one of you! We figured a gofund me was easier then posting our Venmo / cashapp / phone numbers for those asking how they could help monetary wise. If you rather show your love by sending flowers or anything else, you could coordinate with me (Evelynn) & I will also be posting his funeral service information. God bless you all and thank you once again for the love in regards to our father’s passing. Forever you dad Bendición
