On 7/21/2020 Edward Gonzalez-Garcia tragically lost his life in a construction accident. This sudden loss has been devastating for my family. He was only 38 years old. Edward was a hardworking father and husband who left behind his daughter Ariela, a true Daddy's Girl, as well as his wife Tera who is left to figure out where to go from here.
Edward worked hard to start his construction business. It was his dream, something he worked hard to achieve to take care of his family and pursue a true passion of his. I’m grateful I got to see him accomplish his dream. His dedication to his business showed as he created successful connections and business partnerships with his knowledge, experience, and top of the line professionalism. He treated his employees like family and cared tremendously about the people he worked with. He will be greatly missed by so many.
Despite his long hours devoted to his business, he was present and involved in his daughters life. My sister and the beautiful light that she is, is a child with Down Syndrome. Edward was invovled in the Down Syndrome community, present for all of the NWDSA's Buddy Walk's and other activities. Their bond was something that was truly beautiful to see. Ariela is only 5 years old. Edward was her world. This loss is hard for all of us to understand and accept, and especially for my sister who still doesn’t understand why her daddy isn’t home from work.
Edward was a humble man. He was kind, gentle, and compassionate. He was happy with what he had, a loving family, his own business, and a roof over his head. He was a true family man. He showed unconditional love not only to Ariela, but myself, sister Laya and brother Temio. We all grew to love Edward and look up to him as a father figure in our family. I believe he was the true soul mate for my mom. His unending patience and love was something I admired greatly about him and how he treated my mom. My heart breaks for my mom as she feels she’s moving on with a piece of her missing.
With such a sudden and unexpected loss, there are so many things left for my mom to do. Financial support will be used to help with the unfortunate high costs of a burial, gravestone, and other fees, as well as Memorial accommodations to celebrate Edward the way he deserves to be remembered. Unfortunately COVID-19 restrictions are creating some barriers that we are trying to work through. Financial support will also assist my mom with other household expenses that come with the sudden loss of income. Any way that you can help is greatly appreciated. If you know my mom and her selfless nature, she would never ask for this. As her daughter I know she needs help and am reaching out to create additional support for my mom.
Thank you for all the kind words, prayers, and support that so many of you have already offered my family. Words cannot express our gratitude. We love you all and will keep this page updated with any additional information and Memorial information as we navigate this incredibly tough time. Thank you again.
