Help Edward Lyon and Sons Manage Tragic Accident
Donation protected

It is with a heavy heart that I provide this update. Yesterday at 3:10 PM Ed passed away. His brain was showing more signs of damage so his sons made the difficult decision to take him off the ventilator. Per his wishes, Ed is giving all usable organs and tissue to Gift of Life. Even in his death, Ed continues to help others. We are comforted to know that Ed received the "Walk of Honor" as he was wheeled to another wing of the hospital to begin the donation process. His wonderful nurse, who was able to spend time with Kris and the boys during the past week, listening to so many stories about Ed and his wonderful attributes, was there to hold his hand as he passed. We are told it was the most peaceful death.
As you know, Ed lived many years with serious medical conditions. Despite investigating options, life insurance policies were extremely expensive because of these pre-exisitng conditions and not something Ed was able to afford. This Go Fund Me page will be used by his sons to pay for Ed's funeral costs as well as medical expenses. Donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Please continue to pray for Nick and Tyler as they continue this difficult journey. Ed also has wonderful siblings and extended family that have lost an important part of their family. Please send prayers their way as well. And finally, please send prayers to the individuals that will be recipients of Ed's organs and tissue.

On Tuesday, June 2, Ed was working on a project (as usual) - changing out a window in his house. He had a terrible fall and sustained life-threatening injuries, including several fractured vertebrae (C-1 through C-4), which then caused cardiac arrest. Luckily his son, Tyler, was home to perform CPR and call 911. Ed was rushed to Alpena Hospital and soon after, air-lifted to Saginaw Covenant Hospital where he remains in serious condition, unconscious and on a ventilator. This Go Fund Me page is raising money to help his sons manage his affairs, including paying current household bills and future medical bills.
If you are reading this, you likely know Ed. You know that there is nothing he loves more than his boys. You also know he loves to keep busy hunting, fishing, building furniture, birdhouses, lamps, trivets, anything really, and working on any house project he can find. He has continued to do these things despite the health challenges he has faced during his life. At 32, when his sons Nick and Tyler were just toddlers, he was diagnosed with young-onset Parkinson's disease. He has struggled many years with this debilitating disease, which forced him to retire from work early and has been a financial burden for many years.
Please pray for Ed. Please pray that he will stay with us, doing good, being useful, and most of all, spending time with his sons. Whatever the Lord's plan is, we know there will be a lot of costs involved and this fund will help pay for whatever lies ahead.
Thank you for considering donating to this go fund me effort.
