On the evening of April 4th, Edward "HOTT" Cleveland was performing at what would be his last gig. He was cranking out one of his world-famous solos when he began experiencing excruciating pain in his right shoulder which made him pull back so he could finish the night. The pain was so severe that he was unable to even pack up his kit on his own. When he got home he fell out in pain and needed to be rushed to the ER the next morning for pain management and x-rays. It has been a very long road. He has been through 3 months of physical therapy, CTs, MRIs, and multiple appointments with various doctors. It was realized after 3 months of physical therapy this was never going to heal on its own and surgery was inevitable. He went in for a total rotator cuff repair (right shoulder) which included shaving bone, anchoring the tissue over the bone and inserting screws into the bone. The recovery time includes 6 months of physical therapy which is extremely painful and leaves Edward with an inability to work any job. This injury is not only physically debilitating but has also had a very negative affect on Edward emotionally and psychologically. He became depressed and had a fear that he would never be able to play the drums professionally at the caliber God has blessed him with.
As a professional musician, the timing of this incident could not have been worse. Our country was in the process of reopening after the worst year ever due to COVID, especially for musicians. He was thrilled to get back to his passion and do what Edward "HOTT" Cleveland does best, entertain the people!
Due to the inability to use his right arm, he is unable to work and the savings he worked hard to accumulate has depleted. Unfortunately, he did not qualify for temporary disability. He must obviously cancel all upcoming gigs which is where he receives the bulk of his income. He also had to give up his day job which means he has no current income. From the ER visit to numerous doctor's visits, scans/MRIs, pre-surgery PT sessions and surgery co-pay, costs are astronomical. Future physical therapy sessions (3x/week for 6 months) and follow-ups with specialists will continue to add up increasing his financial hardship. We created this fund to help with Edward's medical costs and living expenses while he recovers and is unable to perform. We sincerely want to thank you all for taking the time to donate.
