Our hearts are broken by the sudden loss of Edward “Eddie” Shine on Saturday, September 20. Eddie was a kind and gentle soul whose warmth, humor, and loyalty touched everyone who knew him. He had a gift for lighting up any room he entered, and his endless jokes and quick wit made him a friend to all. His devotion to his family and friends ran deep, and his presence in our lives is irreplaceable.
Eddie’s passions were many, but music was at the heart of who he was. A talented trumpet player with a lifelong love of jazz, he shared his gift through countless performances and even centered his American University senior capstone on “Jazz as a Political Voice.” At AU, Eddie was a proud member of the DC Delta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon and graduated in the fall of 2015 with a degree in Political Science and French Language, cum laude.
Eddie was also the biggest Boston sports fan, devoted to the Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins, and especially the Celtics. His love for his teams ran deep, and anyone who knew him knew how much joy he found in cheering them on.
Most recently, Eddie graduated from The George Washington University Law School and was beginning his career in the legal field.
Eddie is survived by his loving parents, Edward and Karen Shine of Foxboro, Massachusetts, and by his siblings, Kristin Shine of Medford, Massachusetts, and Kelly Shine and Joshua Gonsalves of Weymouth, Massachusetts, along with too many other family members, friends, and coworkers to list.
With the blessing of Eddie’s family, this page was created for those who feel moved to offer support through a contribution toward immediate expenses and bills, such as funeral and memorial expenses. While the family has not requested assistance, many have expressed a desire to honor Eddie in a tangible way. Any donations given in Eddie’s memory will be received with deep gratitude. If donating is not possible, please know that sharing your stories and memories of Eddie is equally valuable in keeping his spirit alive.
Max Weiss, Haydn Higgins, and Luke Jackson are raising these funds on behalf of the Shine Family, and all funds will be transferred directly to Edward R. Shine, Eddie's father, at the appropriate time.
Thank you for surrounding Eddie’s family and friends with love and support during this most difficult time.
