Help Renee and Her Children Say Goodbye to Eddie
My name is Niesha, and today I reach out with a heavy heart on behalf of my sister, Renee Alembo. Last night, the unthinkable happened: Renee's husband, Eddie, passed away suddenly from a massive heart attack at the young age of 44. The shock and sorrow we feel is indescribable, as we mourn a man who was not only a husband and father but a beacon of hope for his community in Papua New Guinea.
Eddie's life was a testament to love, service, and dedication. He worked tirelessly with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Welfare Program in Papua New Guinea, focusing his efforts on empowering disadvantaged communities through building wells, administering vaccinations, and building schools (among many other things!) for the people of Papua New Guinea. His passion for helping others knew no bounds, and he left an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Eddie and Renee's story began at Brigham Young University-Hawai'i that gifted them three wonderful children: Nira (15), Cairo (12), and Edison (5).
Now, in the wake of this tragedy, Renee faces the daunting task of traveling to PNG to prepare Eddie for his final resting place. This journey requires emergency passports for her , extensive travel, and the solitary burden of preparing Eddie for burial.
As Eddie's work was driven by passion rather than financial reward, the family is left facing significant financial challenges during this already devastating time.
My heart aches for my sister and her children, as they navigate this unimaginable loss. This is why I am reaching out to you, our community, friends, and kind-hearted strangers, to ask for your support.
Your contribution, no matter the size, will help Renee and her children to say their final goodbyes, ensuring Eddie's legacy of love and service is honored in a burial surrounded by those who loved him most.
In this moment of profound grief, your generosity can lighten the burden on a grieving family, allowing them to focus on healing and remembering the incredible man Eddie was.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, your prayers, and your support during this unimaginably difficult time. God bless you.
Note: Papua New Guinea (PNG) is among the world's most impoverished nations, with over 39% of its population living on less than $2.15 a day as of the last reported data. The country's struggles with hunger are also significant, ranking 105th out of 125 countries on the Global Hunger Index, placing it in the "serious" category for hunger levels.
PNG's daily poverty threshold is less than the cost of a cup of coffee in the US, Australia, & New Zealand, underscoring the urgent need for support and intervention.
