Educational Resources for Westside Elementary!
Tax deductible
Five years ago, our team started Project Ignite(http://www.projectignitefresno.com) at Westside Elementary in collaboration with Fresno County of Education to spark a love of learning and offer equality of opportunity in a rural, underserved community. During visits, we have seen inquisitive, creative children who deserve the right to dream as widely as possible. We have provided weekly mentoring since 2019 but one persistent obstacle has been reliable internet access. Internet access is an integral part of education from reading to math. In the past, the initiative donated kindles and a physical library to the students to increase the accessibility of books since initially, the only source of books was a weekly bookmobile. We have also helped purchase educational tools, like Mystery Science. Yet, the underlying root of this inequality is that there's no functional cell tower nearby. Yes, it's not profitable for telecommunication companies to invest in rural immigrant towns, but that's no reason to hold back an important educational resource from those who need it most. We aim to fundraise enough to purchase learning tools and enable consistent internet access. Support us by giving as little or as much as you can to The Foundation @ FCOE to combat educational inequity!
