'Giddy Up and Go' - Educational programme for young teens
Donation protected
Hello, we are five trustees who have set up the Hairy Henry Educational Trust to raise funds for 'Giddy Up and Go', an educational programme for young teens aged 12-16 who experience challenges in mainstream school. This programme aims to support these youngsters with the help of the therapy horses on the Hairy Henry Care Farm which is situated near Bantry/West Cork/Ireland.
The programme will be run by experienced social worker and educational tutor Sandra Schmid, using a holistic and person-centred approach to give participants a meaningful experience in an inclusive setting and build on their personal, inter social and life skills and resilience.
The funds already raised will now enable us to run interviews for prospective participants, with the view of running a pilot of this programme in January 2026. This pilot will deliver important data as to the effectiveness of this approach - which we hope will attract long-term sponsors and grant aid so that this programme can be offered to students on an on-going basis into the future.
