Background
The situation in Shingal is still very uncertain, as the ongoing persecution and discrimination against Christians and Ezidis has still not come to an end. The consequences of the 2014 genocide are still being felt. More than 3,500 Ezidi children, women and men are still in the hands of IS, and the reconstruction of urgently needed infrastructure is being blocked by the Kurdish and Iraqi governments. As a result, many young Ezidis and Christians who have fled from IS live in precarious refugee camps with no hope or prospects for the future.

Who are we?
We are Ezidis Worldwide e. V. is a group of activists in Germany that was formed in August 2014 as a result of the atrocities committed against the Ezidi and Christian minority. In particular, we want to draw attention to the suffering of the abducted children and women who are still being detained and abused. We also want to enable children and young people to lead an independent life after the genocide through education. The NGO "Sunrise NGO" is our partner in the region.

Project
These young people of our program have a strong motivation to overcome their dire situation and build their own future. For this reason, we have launched a large-scale educational project in the form of online German courses in collaboration with the Iraq-based NGO Sunrise. These courses are intended to provide participants with the basis for finding a suitable apprenticeship or job in Germany later on. The students have 15h of class per week (3h a day). Our project has now been running for ten months and the 25 young Ezidis are about to reach the B1 level. We plan to continue the courses over the next 5-6 months with our qualified language teacher until the participants can take a recognized B2 German exam. We support them with their Visa and afterwards will support them in finding suitable jobs in Germany, bureaucratic tasks and finding an apartment.
What happens after the project?
This project is a pilot project that we want to keep building on in the future. The long-term aim is to create a legal bridge between the Shingal region and Germany.
Of course, the participants will not be left alone after completing the language course and being successfully placed in Germany. In this pilot project, we refer people to the city of Münster, the home of Ezidis Worldwide e.V., so that we can stay in personal contact with them.
Want to get a glance at our work?
On Facebook und Instagram you can get a better idea of our work. There you will also find some interviews from students of our current class.
If you want to talk with our teacher Lasse about the course structure and classes, get in touch with via https://ezidis.org/kontakt/ . He'll be happy to answer your questions.
How does your donation help?
Your donation will enable us to continue funding the language course. It also enables us to pay the numerous administrative costs for visas, recognition of qualifications, etc. Last but not least, we can make it possible for the young people to arrive well in Germany.
