Support Creative Opportunities for Tulum's Kids
Donation protected

Hi my name is Kelsey I am an elementary teacher originally from St. Paul, Minnesota and I am currently living in Tulum, Mexico. I specialize in creating curriculum for diverse populations and making learning fun to engage students!
I am passionate about using education as a bridge to support the evolution of communities to create more opportunities.
Over the past year I have learned and grown so much and I have fallen in love with Tulum and the culture of Mexico! After spending the last year taking Spanish classes 3 times per week I feel confident enough now to place myself in a space to be of service to this beautiful community by offering free classes to the local elementary school 6 hours per week in creativity, self-care, and English!
It all began when my Spanish teacher shared a startling fact: Tulum's elementary students are in school for just four hours a day, with a mid-day switch to accommodate both primary and secondary education. This gap in learning inspired me to take action.
When I heard this I knew immediately that I could do something to help so I began creating ideas for how I could support students and teachers in the school to provide extra opportunities during the school day and for an extra hour after school.
I am so excited to begin this journey as it combines my love for teaching children with my desire to serve the community I live in by bridging gaps through education.
Tulum is such a beautiful place, but the rapid expansion and increase in tourism is creating an even larger gap in opportunity between the locals and the expat/tourist community. I would like to be a part of the solution.
I am asking for support in starting this project for the local kids of Tulum. I ask you to consider donations that will go towards materials and resources as well as funding to bring in qualified teachers.
All donations will go towards providing unique educational experiences for the local kids. This includes English classes that can help evolve the cycle of generational inequality for the local community.
Thank you for your continued support and curiosity about my evolving story here in Tulum and supporting a cause that is very close to my heart.
