Educational Aid for Bethlehem Students
Donation protected
As we are all aware, the war in Palestine has taken a terrible toll. We hear in the news and through social media about the large scale impacts of this on the Palestinian people and many of us are doing what we can to help.
This past week, my wife Erin and I were fortunate enough to meet a Palestinian man and his son (their identities are being withheld for security reasons) and this really brought the personal, individual impact of the conflict into sharp focus.
The purpose of this gofundme campaign is to raise money to support the education. Of young students at Collège des Frères in Bethlehem.
The family we met lives in Bethlehem, and had a successful business prior to October 7th, 2023. Now, due to a combination of Israeli policies in the West Bank and the nearly total absence of tourism, the family has had to look for other ways to support themselves and their children. This was above and beyond the financial toll taken by the COVID pandemic's impact on their family business.
When we met them, the father and son were traveling through the United States, sponsored by local Baptist Churches, and selling beautiful handcrafted Palestinian goods to raise money for their family. We hosted a wonderful dinner at our home, where the son cooked traditional Palestinian foods, and our guests were able to purchase some of the Palestinian made products they had brought (scarves, wood carvings, and more).
We had a wonderful time with them, but ended the evening wishing deeply that we could do even more to help. Their son is a twelve year old student at Collège des Frères, and is exactly the type of child we want to help.
Helping support the general education of young students in Palestine is a powerful way to directly affect change during this incredibly difficult time. We encourage you to give generously.
These funds will be collected by my wife Erin Grimm and myself, and we will transfer 100% of all donations directly to the school, with whom we are already in contact.
Thank you for considering giving to this very worthy cause.
