The Society of United Professionals was deeply saddened by the death of Ashish Tiwari. A devoted husband, father and colleague, Ashish passed away due to COVID-19 on May 25 while in India dealing with a family matter.

Ashish was a Senior Technical Engineer who worked in planning and development on the Safe Storage Project for Ontario Power Generation. He was a Power of YOU Award nominee, and was recognized by his colleagues as a humble and caring friend and mentor.

Ashish joined OPG in 2004 as a Fuel Handling Control Tech.

In addition to his passion for his work, Ashish loved to share his culture with his colleagues. As part of the Safe Storage Diwali celebration, Ashish would bring samosas and sweets to share.

“We offer our deepest condolences to Ashish’s wife Disha, his children Helly, Keya and Aryan, and all of his friends and co-workers,” said Society President Michelle Johnston.

With the permission of Ashish’s family, the Society has started a GoFundMe page to raise funds to support his children’s education. Society members and others in the general public who are able are encouraged to donate what they can to support the Tiwari family during this tragic time.
