Keep Eddah from childhood marriage
Donation protected
Eddah is a 17 year old girl who lives in Nakuru, Kenya. She loves school and wants to be a nurse. At 14 years of age she saw her sister (15 years old) sold into marriage by her father (who does not live with them) for roughly $240, with none of that money being given to or used by the mother or children. Eddah's father tried to sell her into marriage when she was 15. The only way that I could protect her from this was by removing her from the home and placing her in a boarding school (with her mother's permission).
There was no interfering with cultural or societal norms by doing this. In this region women are free to live as they choose. This was a circumstance in which a father wanted money for his own use and was willing to use whatever resources he had to get it...even his own family. Please find it in your hearts to help this young lady remain a young lady and not be forced into being a woman too soon. She wants to grow up and be free to live as she wants and love who she wants. We all have the power to make that happen.
The family of 5 is very poor and Eddah's mother could not afford to regularly feed all of her children, let alone send Eddah to boarding school. As such, I launched this gofundme page 2 years ago to help with funding her education. Everyone who donated during that time was a big help! However, not enough money was raised to totally finance her education. I have been personally funding her education with intermittent help from others. However, I can no longer afford to do this. I need your help! SHE NEEDS YOUR HELP!
Eddah is just starting her 2nd year of high school. Her tuition and associated fees are roughly $250 per trimester ($750 per year). I am asking for your help to finance her education for the remainder of high school/secondary school, which would be $2,250 (which is in addition to the $1580 that was generated when this page was originally launched; creating a grand total of $3830 needed to be raised through gofundme). ANY amount will help. Please....anything that you can do would be so helpful.
If anyone would like to be her full-time sponsor that too is possible. I will make sure that you have contact with her, receive videos from her (when possible), as well as written letters.
Thank you all for your generosity. Again, there is no amount too small. Every single dollar helps!
