Jubilee School is a learning community that has been celebrating children's voices and ideas for 46 years. Jubilee was founded on respect for children’s love of learning and provides an environment in which students celebrate their legacies through scholarship, creativity, and the power of their ideas to bring about change. Jubilee was created in response to under-resourced neighborhood schools in West and Southwest Philadelphia and expensive private schools that were inaccessible to hardworking families. Our school relies on outside help to continue its commitment to providing a rigorous, comprehensive private school education that is affordable to all, regardless of income. Our tuition is among the lowest in Philadelphia, yet more than 70% of our students receive need-based financial aid.
We are asking for your support by donating to our scholarship fund so that we may continue to meet the needs of our learning community, most of whom are from West and Southwest Philadelphia.
Your contribution will help us continue our legacy of inspiring young leaders to affect change in their communities through scholarship, the arts, and activism.
Examples of our student's leadership projects include:
Organizing and leading two student marches, meeting with lawmakers in Philadelphia, and hosting a workshop at the United Nations Conference on Small Arms.
Creating Jubilee School's Declaration of Principles modeled after W.E.B. Dubois' Declaration of Principles.
Developing a campaign against gun violence and police brutality and speaking across Philadelphia in schools and City Council.
Successfully petitioning the state for a Historical Marker to hold the City of Philadelphia accountable for the bombing of MOVE Headquarters.
Writing, illustrating, and publishing six books and founding "Jubilee Voices Publishing House; Unravelling our true past; Teaching the Truth about History and Society."
Spearheading an all-school Environmental Justice education and outreach campaign for planting trees in West and Southwest Philadelphia neighborhoods.
Whether it's organizing a children's campaign against gun violence, writing books, or successfully petitioning the state for a historical landmark, Jubilee students are empowered to honor the legacies of change-makers by engaging in their own unique forms of social activism while elevating public awareness. We invite you to become members of our community of supporters. Your contribution to Jubilee's scholarship fund will go a long way toward helping us provide an affordable quality education rooted in the belief that all children deserve the freedom and opportunity to learn and lead.
