ED'S MEMORIAL CELEBRATION WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, 3/25/18 AT NOON AT BALBOA TENNIS CLUB CLUBHOUSE, 2221 MORLEY FIELD, SAN DIEGO. IT WILL BE A CASUAL EVENT, AND WE WILL OPEN THE FLOOR TO ANYONE WHO WOULD LIKE TO SHARE AN INTERESTING OR FUNNY EVENT EXPERIENCED WITH ED. WE WILL BE PURCHASING A BRICK IN ED'S NAME TO BE PLACED AT THE ENTRANCE TO THE CLUB.
ED PASSED AWAY ON THURSDAY, 3/15/18, PEACEFULLY IN HIS SLEEP. HE IS IN A BETTER PLACE. HE CHOSE TO HAVE HIS BODY DONATED TO SCIENCE.
For those of us who are lucky enough to know Ed, whether it be from the Balboa Tennis Club or some of the local pubs around town, we are setting up this fund to grant to pay for his final care and funeral expenses.
Due to his brain tumors, Ed disappeared from us for a while, and was finally found when a hotel manager called Ed's brother to come and get him. He had lost 30 lbs and was immediately taken to specialists that diagnosed him with cancer. His body is riddled with cancer: brain, colon, lungs, liver, bladder, and more. Apparently it has been growing the past several years and has been affecting his actions and his memory during that entire time. He NEVER complained!!!
It is so advanced that the doctors aren't g oing to treat it. They give him 2 - 4 months to live.
He has no money or assets. He was unable to keep a job, and has been living in his car for a long time. His car with all his possessions was stolen when he was in a brain fog.
I will always remember him as a gentle, caring, kind man that was first to offer help to anyone in need. When he played tennis, it was like he was dancing on the courts. He could get to any ball. He also dances well.
Any funds donated will go toward his funeral expenses and final arrangements, AND A BRICK AT THE ENTRANCE OF THE BALBOA TENNIS CLUB.
