Education for Niger: Donate to Children In Need of Support
Tax deductible
We are a team from Orono Middle School, attempting to raise funding to support education in Niger.
The literacy rate in Niger is about 38 percent, compared to the US where it is 79 percent. Conditions for learning are also poor. Many schools in Niger do not have running water, computers, or whiteboards. Often, a classroom will consist of desks and one chalkboard.
Furthermore, even if a school in Niger has such technology, most kids cannot attend. Just like the kid we are raising money for today, children all over Niger are forced into child labor due to extreme poverty. An expert from World Vision said that education is the door to dreaming about the future. Since sponsoring a child in the DRC, he noticed that she could finally dream. These moments are why we are doing this.
Giving just a small donation to the cause will help raise money to sponsor this child for at least a year if not many more.
Donated money will be sent to World Vision to sponsor a child's education. One way World Vision does this is to provide resources for a community or family to have an income. For example, giving farms/fields to the community, so the community can raise and sell crops and make a steady income. This will allow families to spend money on their children's education, instead of purely worrying about surviving day to day.
Thank you very much for helping to support this cause!
