Ed and Audrey do not want to lose their home. For the past nine months, Ed has been hospitalized, unable to work, while battling a rare and aggressive disease: VEXAS Syndrome—a newly discovered autoinflammatory condition that attacks the body’s organs without warning, often simultaneously and relentlessly.

It started with his skin—severe welts and painful lesions from the chest up. Then came a pulmonary embolism that sent him to the ER. Not long after, fluid around his heart left him gasping for air, his family describing the experience as watching him “drown from the inside.”

The disease continued to spread—this time to his spine, leaching calcium from his bones and causing 12 vertebrae to fracture or collapse. The pain was so extreme, his hands had to be restrained to keep him from unintentionally harming himself.

Then came the next blow: COVID, pneumonia, and the flu—all at once—leading to over a month in intensive care, including intubation and time in a step-down ICU.

Despite Ed's fierce will to live, the loss of income, mounting medical needs, and sheer cost of survival have left his family in crisis. His wife spends most of her time working at his bedside. They are fighting not just for Ed’s life—but to keep their home, their foundation, and their future. They want to fulfill his wish to bring him home.
