Edna Thompson Home going

Hello everyone, I'm Brandy the eldest grandchild of Edna "Duckie" Thompson. Duckie was like a second mother to me, she made the sacrifice to raise me so that my mother could go back to school and receive her college degree. Duckie was my safe space, she allowed me to be me and never judged me. My grandmother made the process of being separated from my birth mother one of unconditional love. She even taught me to dial the phone so that when I did return to my mother I could always call her if I ever needed anything. Duckie believed in putting family first. I was not the first person Duckie opened her home to and I certainly was not the last. My grandmother always opened her home to family members and friends who were down on their luck. Even stray animals had a home at Duckie's place.
Which is why I am on a mission to be there for my grandmother like she has always been for me. Like many families we put our confidence in a life insurance company however today we were met with the most terrifying news. The insurance company is refusing to cover her funeral expenses which totals $4800. While we plan to do something about it later we don't want her to remain in limbo because the system has failed her just as the system has failed so many in the elderly community leaving their loved ones trying to squeeze water out of a rock.
Edna had seven daughters but lost two in her lifetime and her final wishes were to be cremated and buried with her daughter Roxanne who passed away in 2008 waiting to receive a new kidney from the donor list. Your contributions will assist us with paying the funeral service fees, a loaner casket and the cremation along with the burial service fees. Anything you can do to help us we would greatly appreciate. All monies will be paid the Walker Funeral home and Vine Street Hill cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio. We appreciate in advance anyone out there who can assist us. Thank you all and god bless you.
