Edna Maguire Elementary School Garden

Hello Mill Valley Troop 1 Families and Friends,

I am Jack Moriarty, a Life Scout in Mill Valley BSA Troop 1 and a high school junior. My Eagle Scout project is underway and I am raising money ($1500) for needed materials and supplies. My project revolves around the chicken coop in the garden located at Edna Maguire Elementary School. The current coop has several issues that must be fixed. With your help, you money will go towards replacing the old fiberglass roof with the new one made of steel, creating a drainage layer that will prevent flooding, installing a wire mesh layer to keep critters out, giving the coop a new coat of red paint, replacing part of the egg box, and helping with a few other things along the way, including some work in the orchard to fill in sprinkler line trenches. This project is critical to the garden as they will be getting new hens due to the old ones getting killed by raccoons. The coop is a core part of the garden program, which in turn is an important part of the Edna Maguire Curriculum. The new chicks will move in ahead of the May 5, 2024 Edna Maguire Garden Fair. My goal is to raise $1500 to cover all costs of the renovation and related project work. Any amount is greatly appreciated and all funds will go to Anita Castro Sparks who runs the Garden on behalf of Edna Maguire.
