Project Zambia is an initiative that Edmund Rice College has been involved with over twenty years. It aims to address poverty in the compounds of Lusaka, Zambia.
The project has since expanded and now works in partnership with local communities to tackle issues such as HIV/AIDS, education, sanitation, and income generation.
Project Zambia aims to empower communities by providing support and resources to help them develop sustainable solutions to their challenges.
They focus on various projects, including schools, health care, and social economy initiatives like agricultural projects and bakeries.
In June this year 15 pupils and 5 staff members will visit Zambia to continue and deliver on the work of previous trips and work over the years.
Our pupils and staff will focus on the following areas during their time in Zambia.
Empowering Local Communities: Working in partnership with local communities to develop sustainable solutions to their challenges, such as poverty, lack of education, and health issues.
Raising Awareness: Increasing awareness about the conditions and causes of poverty and human dignity violations, fostering solidarity between communities in Ireland and Zambia.
Supporting Education: Providing educational opportunities and resources to improve literacy and skills among children and adult.
Improving Health: Addressing health issues, particularly HIV/AIDS, and improving access to clean water and sanitation.
Promoting Economic Development: Initiating social economy projects, such as agricultural initiatives and small businesses, to create sustainable income sources.
These goals aim to create a lasting positive impact on the communities involved, helping them to become self-sufficient and resilient.
Please help us with our efforts and we are grateful for all donations.
