Update: Edith has received her transplant. She is experiencing ups and downs. She is still in Chicago recovering. Please continue to help her get through this time as she recovers. Thanks to all who have already donated.
As you guys know Edith has been battling lupus. Or maybe some of you don't know because throughout her battle she gets up every morning and starts her day just like everyone else. She goes to class(nursing school), studies or comes to UCLA to help take are of others. Most of us see her in the ER working hard with a smile on her face.
Over the past year Edith's battle has taken a toll on her. She has been on immunosuppressants and has tried numerous trial drugs. On November 2nd Edith went to Chicago in hopes to be picked for a trial lupus treatment involving a stem cell transplant, and she was approved.
"Stem cell transplant for lupus, MS, and other autoimmune conditions can be a life changer for many of us . I WAS APPROVED TODAY, yes let's do this!!! Let's move to Chicago and lose all my hair, but I don't care for I'll be ok.
Thank you for all the support and the love"
In order for Edith to receive her transplant she'll have to move to Chicago for a few months early 2017. Unfortunately all of her living expenses will be out of pocket. Let's help Edith on this journey. Any contribution would be amazing. I know between all of us we can raise enough money to help make her transition to Chicago easy. This way Edith can focus on getting better.
