The Edith Head documentary:
Edith Head is the world's most famous costume designer. That statement may seem bold to many of you who may be wondering if she was so famous, why have I never heard of her? That's because her remarkable story has yet to be told for the screen...until now.
With your help, the filmmakers of this television documentary will for the first time, in television history tell Edith Head's story, from her humble beginnings, living in rural mining towns to her incredible rise to world-renowned fame as a costume designer, garnering 8 Oscars and 35 nominations throughout her illustrious career.
Edith Head worked up until the day she died October 24th, 1981 of Myelofibrosis. Edith’s last film was Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, directed by Carl Reiner and starring Steve Martin. Edith died before the film was released and the filmmakers dedicated the movie to her.
Edith worked on over a 1,000 movies, far too many to mention here, but some you may recognize are, Sunset Boulevard (1950), The Birds (1963), and The Sting (1973).
This documentary promises for the first time to be a portrait of the icon herself and you won't be disappointed when you get to know her for her sharp wit and practical advice that is still relevant today.
The filmmakers are already scheduling interviews and gathering the archival footage needed for the documentary. So funding for this project will need to start immediately.
All the funds raised will go to pay for the licensing fees for music and archival footage as well as the cast and crew for upcoming interviews.
Any small amount will help and please share this campaign with as many friends as you can. Like the Purple Skies Facebook page and look for updates on the website at purpleskiesinc.com.
We can't thank you enough for your support. Your contribution to this project makes you an important part of film and television history.
