Edison’s Camps International Expedition to Kenya

Hello, my name is Edison, I live in Angmering and I’m a student at Our Lady of Sion School.

I’ve been given an incredible opportunity to join a Camps International expedition to Kenya in the summer of 2026. This expedition will allow me to make a real difference in the lives of people living in rural Kenya, while also contributing to the preservation of local wildlife and their habitats.

During this four-week journey, I’ll be involved in several impactful projects, including:

Community Projects: We’ll be helping to build and refurbish classrooms, community centres, and installing water systems for local villages. I’ll also be teaching English and sharing some of our favourite games with local children.

Environmental Projects: We’ll get hands-on with activities like tree planting to support reforestation and combat climate change.

Wildlife Conservation: I’ll be working alongside local communities to construct elephant deterrent fences. These fences help protect both the people and wildlife by preventing conflicts, while ensuring the safety of the elephants.

Trek: We’ll undertake a five-day trek across open savannah and rainforest, aiming to reach the summit of Mount Kenya just in time to witness a stunning sunrise.

Safari: To cap off the trip, we’ll embark on a one-day safari in Tsavo East National Park, where we hope to observe Kenya’s diverse wildlife up close.

This expedition is an amazing opportunity for me to support communities in need and help protect wildlife. In order to make this happen, I’m hoping to raise £4,000 through sponsorship and fundraising to help with the cost of my participation.

This trip will develop me as a person in many positive ways. I will develop a good of understanding of how other communities and cultures live and will teach me practical skills and of course I will also have lots of lasting memories from the trip of a lifetime.
