Hi everyone,

I wanted to share an important update and thank you all for the kindness and support you've shown her so far.

As most of you know, Kimberly Afflitto was rushed to the ER Valentine’s Day 2024 where she was diagnosed with liver cirrhosis due to her autoimmune disease. In October 2024, she collapsed at work and was hospitalized multiple times until December 2024. She was approved for her liver transplant on December 20, 2024 and one year to the day it all started, they found a liver for her. On Valentine’s Day 2025, Kim underwent her life-saving liver transplant. While the surgery was successful and gave her a new lease on life, the months that followed have been anything but easy.

Shortly after she was finally strong enough to come home, a water heater burst, causing severe damage to her house. Since May, she’s been living in a hotel with her two daughters (ages 18 and 16) and their two German Shepherds—doing everything she can to keep her family together, safe, and hopeful.

Right now, the family is struggling with:

Ongoing medical debt from the transplant

Anti-rejection medication costs (which are critical and expensive)

Daily living expenses

A damaged home they can’t return to

The emotional weight of trying to rebuild from so many setbacks

To make things even harder, Kim is unable to return to work until the end of the year. Her oldest daughter just graduated high school and is hoping to attend college—but that dream is on hold as the family fights just to get through each day.

I decided it was time to step in and offer some type of assistance. While I can’t do it alone, I know I am surrounded by the most amazing people and I am pleading for your assistance. Even the smallest amount is something.

Your assistance would help her with:

Paying for medical bills and medication

Secure stable housing and repair their home

Support her daughter’s college journey

Care for their pets, who have been a source of comfort throughout this hardship
