This summer, we are taking our first original play 'The Alpha Podcast' to the Edinburgh Fringe as Theatre Graduates! Going to the Edinburgh Fringe will be a really exciting and rewarding opportunity, but a huge challenge with many costs involved. So, in order to achieve this lifelong goal, we need your support.
Here's a bit about the show to tantalise your tastebuds...
It’s a woke, woke world: masculinity is compromised every day, and being a red-blooded male is not as easy as it used to be!
George, Drew, Adam, and Frank have an inseparable male bond that every female seeks to break. When a night of intellectual conversation and podcast recording veers into the fantastical, a hypothetical paradise free of the malice of women starts to form, and The Alpha Podcast may never be the same again.
Drawing from the controversies of self-identifying ‘King of Toxic Masculinity’ Andrew Tate, The Alpha Podcast uses satire to explore the insidious world of male podcasts and anti-feminist subcultures that have exploded in recent years. Should we view these key figures in misogynistic discourse as isolated issues, or are they part of a larger web of damage that can trap men in its sticky net?
We are 'Future Ghost Theatre company', a new theatre company comprised of soon-to-be graduates from the University of York's Theatre: Writing, Directing and Performance degree. We are passionate about creating original theatre about topics we care about, and are thrilled to be working together on this opportunity.
We want to take this show to the Edinburgh Fringe to kickstart our careers in the theatre industry. This will give us the chance to present our original work we are proud of, see some inspiring theatre, meet like-minded creatives, network and also give other University of York students the opportunity to go to the Edinburgh Fringe as part of our cast. As a female-led theatre company, we have chosen to explore themes of feminism and misogyny in our Fringe debut to share under-represented voices and stories we are passionate about. By donating to this project, you will be uplifting a truly important and relevant story, giving young creatives a launchpad into their careers and helping us reach our full potential.
Where will the money go?
We are SO passionate about this project that we are planning on paying for our own accommodation and travel costs, but the Fringe is very expensive so we still need your help. We are looking to raise:
£1056 to pay for our venue (theSpace UK Surgeon's hall, theatre 3) for 6 performances
£393 to pay for Fringe registration
£100 for printing flyers
£100 for Public Liability Insurance

If you are able to donate, we would be so grateful, your generosity will not go unnoticed.
