Edinburgh Festival Fringe Internship

Hello friends! I am excited to let you all know that I have been offered an internship with a theatre education program that takes high school and college students to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I will describe the internship below, but the long-and-short of things is that I have the opportunity to work in Scotland from July 24th to August 15th this summer. Part of that exciting news is that, while my lodging, meals, and a small per diem will be offered as compensation for the internship, the trip will still cost me money.
Frankly, I need your help to make this possible. As many of you know, I do not have parents. My story is complicated, but the short, pithy version is that I am a graduate of the Foster Care System. I have had some relatives and many kind people help me along my path, but I do not have and have not had parents to depend upon. This is one of the rare moments in life where I really wish I could call up my mom and dad and beg them for some help with this trip, the benefits of which I will talk about below, but I do not have that option. The cost of this trip is too large of a help to ask of any one of the people who I lean on when I am in need, so I am reaching out to the community that I have built along my way in the hopes you can assist me. Many of you have helped me before and I hope that you might be able to help me again. I would be very grateful for any amount that any person might be able to contribute. Here's how this internship will help my career:
The internship is through a theatre in North Carolina called LiveArts which is responsible for organizing the American High School Theatre Festival and the International Collegiate Theatre Festival, the latter of which I participated in during my undergraduate experience. The programs bring high school and college students to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe every summer where they perform their own show, see a several others, and get the invaluable experiences associated with spending time in another country. The trip certainly widened my world-view as a young man and I am grateful to be returning in a way that can help students garner similar benefits. I will be splitting my responsibilities between a tech team position and a festival management and logistics position.
I have completed two theatre education internships: one with Portland Stage Company and one with Seattle Repertory Theatre. Many of you know me because of one of these internships. Although I am currently pursuing my MFA in Acting at the University of Washington, I hope to continue my work in theatre education administration in tangent with my performance work when I am done with my time in graduate school, and I hope both of those path will eventually lead me to a position as a college professor of theatre arts. This internship presents the opportunity to experience the inner-workings of an international theatre education program; I will gain skills that will help me along my career and, just as importantly, a credit to my resume. I will be applying for a position with my school to chaperone a similar trip next year--this experience will make me a more competitive applicant to the position. The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is also an incredible artistic experience and Scotland is something of an artistic home for me.
It has always been hard for me to reach out for help and I know this is a big ask, but I cannot afford this experience alone. Graduate School makes raising the money on my own impossible. The 2,500 I am asking for would be used primarily for a plane ticket and the cost of rent for my place in Seattle while participating in this internship. The rest will be used for spending money at the Festival.
I once felt dreams like those I harbor today not possible for people like me. Statistics loomed over me. I do not feel that way any more--I've proved myself wrong too many damn times. It would be folly to forget that my success has relied heavily on the generosity of kind people. If you have the means and will to be one of those people today, I thank you for your contribution to my future. If you do not, thank you for all the ways you have already contributed to my future. I am lucky to have you all.
