Edilene's Family Needs Help Post-Crash

My name is Maggie Goonan and I have created this page in the hopes of helping my friend Edilene and her family who have been displaced after a plane crashed into her neighborhood a week ago.

As I am sure everyone has seen on the local and national news, there was a deadly plane crash in our area on Jan. 31st that killed all 6 passengers onboard along with one man in his car where the plane went down. Additionally, 24 others on the ground were injured, 2 critically. The medical Learjet 55 went down just after departing from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport only a minute into the flight. The cause of the fiery crash is still unknown. However, the damage and devastation it caused in a residential area of Philly was significant, damaging homes, cars, and businesses.

Among those impacted was our dear friend Edilene, her husband, twin 5-year-old daughters, her 18-month-old daughter, and their puppy. I will tell you that Edi is one of the sweetest, most upbeat, generous souls I’ve ever known. She is simply a ray of sunshine wherever she goes.

Although she and her family (narrowly) escaped serious injury, they have lost their home and all but the few belongings they could get into the trunk of their car.

Despite this, Edilene and her husband are counting their blessings and are so grateful that they were spared that awful night. They continue to pray for the other families who lost loved ones and whose lives are now changed forever by this tragedy.

This young family is struggling, though, to find a way to put their life back together. As they desperately search for housing and attempt to replace at least the bare necessities that were lost, I am asking if you could please help them on this long, difficult road ahead. It has been an overwhelming and highly emotional week for them and I know if we pull together we can surely lighten their burden a bit.

I often contribute to GoFundMe pages of people I’ve never met but whose stories moved me. Sometimes I can’t help but wonder if the stories are even real. But, in this case, I know this family and can assure you that if anyone deserves a lending hand in their time of need, it is this family!!
