On Tuesday evening August 9th, Eddie Gordon went home to be with the Lord. Ed was a beautiful man who lived his life with a great and simple purpose. His joy was seen in all facets of his life- his 30+ years a small business owner, his non-profit work in liver support and organ donation awareness, and his consistent loving, caring, and calm presence with those he interacted with.
Ed was a father to many, a best friend to many, and a safe place for all. While countless people feel his absence deeply, his wife, love, and partner CN, son Joseph, daughter Elizabeth, and son-in-law Joshua, are finding that to be especially true.
The absence of Ed also marks a significant financial burden for CN, who is left without a source of income. Due to his illness, life insurance was not an option. While fragile, Ed was committed to working until the the age of 70, so that he could provide for his family and retire with a home paid for. He was less than 2 years from paying off the mortgage, with $60,000 left to go.
We are asking for help. We know the goal is high, but we also know anything is possible. Whatever is on your heart to help transition CN and allow her to stay in the family home, we hope you'll be called to that action.
Please consider giving to the following funds. CN will need several months to sustain housing and expenses without Ed's primary income. When you donate, feel free to provide what you hope to give towards in your comments:
- Cremation and Memorial fees-$5,000
- Help with the mortgage, enough to keep CN afloat for at least the next 6 months-$10,000
- Health and Medical bills- $750/month
-Basic monthly needs- $500/month
-Unexpected travel expenses for family- $1,500
- And so far as it is possible with the city, a commemorative park bench in honor of Ed in Capitola- a place he loved and that we can continue to enjoy in his absence without a burial site- $2,500
