My name is Lina and I am raising money to help save my family heirlooms from foreclosure.
My brother lives in the house we grew up in, which my parents bought in the 70s. After my parents' unexpected deaths, his mental health issues sharply declined. I just learned that we are now at risk of losing the home. Foreclosure can begin starting January 5th. And along with the house, we will lose 50 years' worth of memories, including the remaining pieces my furniture-maker father built, all our family photos, heirlooms brought back from my grandparents' house in my parents' respective homelands, and everything else in the house.
There are many layers to this highly challenging and complicated situation, but I have plans to travel back home to try to save as many items as I can, buy as much time as I can, try to get my brother some professional help and relocate him to a more sustainable living situation.
Any donations will go towards my:
- flights
- rental cars - to drive my brother to necessary appts and get us food and supplies
- childcare while I'm gone so my partner doesn't have to miss work
- services to expedite the process - like junk removal, clean-out services
- potential storage space for the items
- moving/freight - to get the items across the country to my home
If you have the means, any and all help would be so so so appreciated (more than you'll ever know since asking for help is the hardest thing for me!). But I know money is tight for most right now, so here are some other ideas that would also be great support:
