Support Eden & Ellie – Team Canada Dance!

Help Us Represent Canada at the World Championships!

We are Eden (11) and Ellie (8) Hsu—siblings, dance partners, and now both proud members of Team Canada Dance 2025!

This October, we will travel to Slovenia to compete at the IDO World Hip Hop & Popping Championships, representing our country in one of the biggest street dance competitions in the world.

About Eden

Hello! I’m Eden Hsu, 11 years old. I started dancing at the age of 4 and now train over 10 hours every week. My specialty is street dance—Hip Hop and Popping are my favourites. I’m also passionate about music—whether it’s remixing or music production—which gives me a unique sense of musicality and helps me create a style that is completely my own. My dream is to share my passion and originality on the world stage!

About Ellie

Hi! I’m Ellie Hsu, 8 years old, and this year I’m the youngest member of Team Canada. I began dancing at the age of 4 and now train over 10 hours every week. I dance almost every form of classical dance—Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Acro, Lyrical, and Stage/Musical Theatre—but I also love street dance, especially Hip Hop, Popping, and Waacking. This makes my dance style versatile and diverse, and I believe only I can define my own style. My dream is to prove it on the world stage!

Our Journey to the World Stage

This year, both of us were selected for Team Canada Dance. We will:

• Compete with Lil Compound in the Children’s Formation category

• Each competes in Hip Hop and Popping Solo

• Compete together in the Hip Hop and Popping Duo categories

This is a dream come true for both of us. Many of the dancers, teachers, and teammates we admire have stood on this stage before, achieving incredible honours and world championships. Team Canada itself is the defending champion in both the Adult and Junior divisions from last year. Now it’s our turn to represent our country—our years of hard work, training, and perseverance have brought us here. Being selected together makes this journey even more meaningful, as we have promised each other since we were little to always dance with joy, work hard, support each other, and step onto every bigger stage—side by side!

To make this dream a reality, we need your help! We must cover expenses such as training, flights, accommodations, and costumes. We are committed to doing our part through fundraising efforts, showing our dedication and determination to make this happen. Your support will help us take our passion from the studio to the world stage—thank you for believing in us!

Additional Information

In Canada, dance is not recognized as a sporting event, even though many of these dancers train up to 7x/week, are as flexible as any gymnast, as graceful as any figure skater, and as dedicated as any Olympic athlete. Dancers of this caliber train for many hours a week to represent our country with pride. A non-profit organization like this cannot get funding for their award-winning dancers to compete. Each dancer must obtain their own supporters/sponsors as they have been unsuccessful in their attempt to receive government support for the team. In addition, it is more difficult for Canadian dancers as not only do they have the expense to travel so far to attend the Championships, but many of their European counterparts are recognized by their Olympic Committees and are financially rewarded when they win a gold medal at these Championships.

Since the dancers are not recognized for their athleticism, they are not as lucky in obtaining financial support in the same way. The choreographers not only produce world-level choreography but also strongly emphasize good sportsmanship and value being the proud ambassadors they are for Canada.
