My name is Jim Metcalf, owner of Swimquest Pool Service. I want to thank you for taking the time to read this. Eddy is a part of Swimquest team and a great person who is fighting a hard battle against Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia. This Gofundme account was not Eddy's idea and when he was first approached about it he declined. Mr. Feneis, a customer who Eddy services his pool, brought this request to our office and I am thankful for his kindness.
Eddy is married, has 3 daughters and a brand-new grandson. He is under more stress than anyone I have ever seen before. His wife has an issue where her pancreas does not secrete insulin. She needed an insulin pump surgically installed, thankfully one of our customers was kind enough to help them with that. Eddy is still trying to get the pump to function properly and is often up all hours of the night to check her blood levels and keep her safe. His new grandson, Ezra was born last week and is also fighting a battle in the ICU. He was diagnosed with HCM, which means the blood is not properly oxygenated.
As you can see this family is going through so much at once. Eddy is the one who takes care of his family. He has prioritized his work over treatments lately. The VA will drop his insurance if he doesn't keep his appointments. The Doctors want Eddy to do more than just treatments and have more testing done. My wish is for him to be able to be consistent in his treatments so he will beat this.
Treatment is every week for at least a year, it takes a day and he is often too sick to work on the day after. This goal amount will be for the year needed and he will still work the remaining 3 days a week as long as he has his strength.
I will be putting in the first $1,000.00 and my business partner David Cranston is putting in $1000.00 as well.
He is a humble Soldier. I know he will pay it forward.
I hope you will consider helping Eddy, he is a survivor!
