Eddie's Fight is our Fight

Big ears. Dog Dad. Hardworking. Belly laughs. Answers Leslie. Whatever you think of when you think of Ed Lareau, you know that you have a dear friend in him - one who would go out of his way to be there for others.  It is now time for us to be there for him.

At the start of 2019, Eddie learned he would begin this year in a fight against Cancer.  He was diagnosed with a rare form of Testicular Cancer: Seminoma, which is where there is a tumor outside of the testicles (also called Extra Gonadal Germ Cell Tumor).  In Eddie's case, his tumor is in his chest.  This happens when humans are developing in the womb.  Our organs originate from the mid-line, where our hearts are now.  Those organs eventually move to their final locations.  However, a few cells that would have become part of the testicles remained in Eddie's heart/chest region, and those cells became cancerous.  Eddie's plan of action to beat this is with chemotherapy - he will have three rounds.  Each round starts with a set of 5 straight days, and then the following 2 weeks, he will have chemo one day a week.

His family and friends know he will beat this and come out even stronger.  However, with this fight comes several expenses.  Eddie's work has been understanding with his requests to work from home and take time off.  But his wife, Leslie is a teacher.  And since teachers are superheroes but aren't paid superhero status, they are without a portion of their household income.  The hospital stays, medical expenses, gas money, monthly bills, last minute purchases from the hospital gift shop, parking fees, and food expenses in lieu of crappy hospital food are all things that the Lareau family needs help with.  If you have the ability to help, there are a few ways you can do so:

1. Donate here.
2. Buy a shirt! Fill out this form by February 1st.
3. Send some love and visit the big guy or send him some snail mail.
4. Follow Leslie's blog to stay informed.

Any and all of your donations and love sent is so appreciated.  Let's get this guy healed.
