Please help Eddie learn to walk using his Tréxo
Donation protected
Hi!
My name is Barbora and I am raising funds for my son, Eddie, who is six, is a stroke survivor and has cerebral palsy (CP) as a result.
He cannot walk - just yet, but makes progress because of his regular physio therapy, but also the new awesome adage to his routine for the past six months - the walking robot (Tréxo) that we have rented and that, sadly, neither OHIP, nor the extended healthcare benefits cover -just yet.
Eddie uses his Tréxo daily (see his walking here). He does a routine of the maximum recommended hour a day:
2000-2500 steps (depending on speed), that he would otherwise not be able to do on his own - just yet.
The Tréxo does not only help Eddie's brain to create the correct gait pattern connections through the multiple repetitions that he then further perfects in his regular physio sessions; but the rigorous exercise makes his whole body stronger, less spastic, more coordinated and when the time comes - ready to walk on his own. Another plus - he has a blast when he walks! It is hard to imagine how much kids who cannot walk on their own benefit from using a robot that walks their body for them.
Our family does our very best to cover the Tréxo monthly rental fee, which come to $1.131 - $36 a day.
We are hoping to raise a year's worth of fees - $13,000. After 3 years of renting it, we would own the Tréxo, which can grow with Eddie and be used indefinitely.
Tréxo is not covered by OHIP, nor the extended healthcare benefits - contrary to what we would expect from the Canadian healthcare system, neither is his long-term regular, weekly physiotherapy.
Any contribution would be greatly appreciated and evidence of the daily use and Eddie's progress can be shared.
Thank you for considering.
