It started with a sore throat and fatigue. Eddie assumed it was his busy schedule and strep until random bruises started showing up. On July 15th his results came back as leukemia. Eddie was told to go straight to the hospital, the effects of the leukemia were putting him at risk of bleeding out.
After transfusions at his local hospital, he immediately made the journey to the Cancer Center at University of Washington Medical Center to meet with oncologists. Treatment started, his throat developed an infection, he was moved into the ICU, pumped with meds and poked for IVs and all sorts of tests, then moved out of the ICU—all in the first 48 hours.
The good news: Although a rare type (APL), the prognosis from the doctors is positive. There is a 90% success rate and he has an amazing group of medical pros taking care of him.
⚠️ The not-so-good news: Eddie's treatment involves 6 weeks in the hospital, followed by outpatient treatment for at least 8 months. It has been a whirlwind to say the least. And on top of the shock to Kelly and the rest of the family, the stress of Eddie stepping out of his role in their small business, plus the daunting medical bills, has felt overwhelming.
⭐ This is where his sisters are stepping in. (And all of you here to support!) ⭐
The last thing we want is to have Eddie worry about medical expenses (or trying to return back to work too soon) when he needs to focus on his health. We set up this fundraiser to give Eddie and Kelly some relief where we can. Thank you so much for helping us, any amount helps!
We'll also be posting updates here on Eddie's treatment for those who are interested, or DM us your email and we can add you to the family email updates.
