Eddie will be retiring on 26 June after an outstanding career at Heriot-Watt University spanning nearly four decades. Eddie joined the University in 1985 as a Research Associate in Offshore Engineering. Over the years, he has held a variety of technical and academic roles, culminating in his appointment as Professor in the School of Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society.

Throughout his time at Heriot-Watt, Eddie has been a driving force in advancing sustainable energy systems, demand-side management, and community-based energy solutions. He has led numerous high-impact projects, including ORIGIN, SCORRES, and ReFLEX. His work has been widely recognised and earning national and international awards.

In addition to his research, Eddie has made major contributions to the University’s leadership, most notably as Director of Planning for the School, Director of the Heriot-Watt Energy Academy and Co-Lead of the iNetZ+ GRI.
