Eddie is home and getting stronger every day. He would not have survived without intervention from the vet and his time on the respirator. Many have sent Dawn support directly which is fantastic! This is the reason for the reduction in the goal, however the vet bill was quite substantial. Any help in reducing the impact is appreciated. Eddie’s trachea started to collapse on Thursday and he was unable to breathe. He did not respond to the prescribed medication. He was placed in an oxygen chamber.. then his tongue turned blue. And immediately needed to be intubated, two hours later he was put on a respirator to save his life. The doctors are evaluating, whether or not, he should have the very delicate surgery of putting a stent in his trachea so he’s able to breathe on his own.

Within the first 24 hours the medical bill at the emergency was $10,000 and every day it continues to mount. We are hopeful that he will not need the surgery. However even if he does not need it his medical bills will be approximately $20-$30,000 plus tax.

Dawn’s update Monday February 19th:

Eddie is eating with appetite and managed a little bark. Still no outside time and lots of rest.

Dawn’s Monday the 12th update:

Eddie is breathing on his own and I know for certain that you’re thoughts your prayers your love is all a contribution to his incredible recovery.

He is still in ICU sedated and on oxygen. We will know more again tomorrow how he is continuing to breathe on his own which is the ultimate goal to avoid surgery!

NEW NEWS! FEB 12 Monday.

Eddie is having a proceedure this afternoon that if works, he may not need the trachea surgery, (which is risky at the best of times). So we really want this to go well. If he can breathe on his own off the respirator, it will mean he can have a better recovery without surgery.

Please amp up the energy for him today. ❤️❤️ I am ever so grateful.

He didn’t have surgery and was put on a respirator cause he couldn’t breathe on his own due to the fact they found pneumonia so he can’t have surgery yet.

La trachée d'Eddie a commencé à s'affaisser jeudi et il était incapable de respirer. Il n'a pas réagi aux médicaments prescrits. Il a été placé dans une chambre à oxygène... puis sa langue est devenue bleue. Deux heures plus tard, il a été placé sous respirateur pour lui sauver la vie. Les médecins évaluent s'il doit ou non subir l'opération chirurgicale très délicate qui consiste à poser un stent dans sa trachée pour qu'il puisse respirer seul.

Dans les premières 24 heures, la facture des soins d'urgence s'est élevée à 10 000 dollars et elle continue de s'alourdir chaque jour. Nous espérons qu'il n'aura pas besoin d'être opéré. Cependant, même s'il n'en a pas besoin, ses frais médicaux s'élèveront à environ 20 à 30 000 dollars, plus les taxes.

Eddie respire tout seul et je suis certaine que vos pensées, vos prières et votre amour contribuent à son incroyable rétablissement.

Il est toujours en soins intensifs, sous sédatifs et sous oxygène. Nous en saurons plus demain sur la façon dont il continue à respirer seul, ce qui est le but ultime pour éviter une opération !

Eddie subit une procédure cet après-midi qui, si elle fonctionne, pourrait lui éviter l'opération de la trachée (qui est risquée dans le meilleur des cas). Nous voulons vraiment que tout se passe bien. S'il peut respirer seul sans respirateur, cela signifiera qu'il pourra mieux se rétablir sans intervention chirurgicale.

Il n'a pas été opéré et a été mis sous respirateur parce qu'il ne pouvait pas respirer par lui-même en raison du fait qu'ils ont trouvé une pneumonie, de sorte qu'il ne peut pas encore être opéré.
